Do you ever feel like “enough already”, or have no real drive to do the things you know must be done in order to keep the business thriving?
Lord knows I get it! I find myself there sometimes too.
Driving yourself to complete goals takes work and success can often seem like a distant idea if you get into the wrong mindset. Losing your path means losing your motivation, so it is essential to be aware of potential pitfalls that could distract you.
Here are four of those pitfalls for you to consider and navigate past to avoid losing your motivation.
Losing your purpose
Every goal is started with a purpose, a reason for why you are taking the time to do what you do. Disregarding why you started a goal is a sure-fire way to lose motivation. When things get tough, don’t forget what sparked the fire within you. Remind yourself why you started down this path.
Straying from passion
Being in the moment and enjoyably engaged in the experience of any subject is critical to keeping your goals moving. You have to want to be involved and enrolled in what you are doing for ongoing motivation to be present. Finding ways to tie your passion to everything you do effectively can change your life and help alleviate issues with motivation.
Setting unrealistic goals
Making sure you have attainable goals can also be beneficial to keeping motivation. The key is to make sure your goals are clear and concise. The result should be well planned. Also, don’t overextend yourself by setting too many goals. By creating a clear plan for what your goals are and how they are measured and making sure you have the resources to do what you are setting up, you can avoid unrealistic goals and the loss of motivation that comes from them.
Lack of patience
Expecting your goals to be completed in unrealistic timeframes can lead to feeling like a failure and the loss of motivation to continue. Completing a goal is only possible if you have the patience to see it through! When you find yourself growing impatient, reassess your timelines and test them for feasibility.
Our goals should motivate us to continue, not discourage us and make us feel as though they're impossible to achieve. Take some time to review your goals and get honest with yourself, are they realistic?
