Are you struggling with the dreaded ‘what ifs’? You know, what if I fail, what if it doesn’t work, etc. The dreaded ‘what ifs’come from a way of thinking that doesn’t serve you at all. Do you want to know how to leave them in the dust and reach your desired success?

While it’s true, everyone can be an entrepreneur if they want to be one, it’s also true that being an entrepreneur requires one to let go of old ways of thinking and doing things. That’s not always an easy thing to do, but it’s possible. And even if you’ve been an entrepreneur for some time now, you may want to examine your mindset to see if you’re thinking the way that serves you best.

You may have to push your boundaries like you never have before, and for sure, you have to get over the idea that when you work, even if you’re not productive, you’re going to collect a paycheck. Entrepreneurs only get paid when they accept opportunities, involve themselves in innovation, and create value for their audience.

One key to developing an entrepreneurial mindset is getting clear on who you are and who you want to be.

In this article, I will share four questions you should consider asking yourself as you embark upon your journey to developing an entrepreneurial mindset.

Here are the four questions:

1.   What are your values?

2.   What are your skills?

3.   What are your strengths?

4.   What are your weaknesses?

1. What are your values?

You can determine your values by your former actions when confronted with a problem or decision that you had to overcome or make. These are the times that your real values emerge, not just the ones you say you believe in. Look back on your own choices and determine your real values.

2. What are your skills?

Make a list of all your skills. Focus on the deliverables that you provide.

3. What are your strengths?

You’ve heard the idea that you need to leverage your strengths but how do you even know what they are? You can use self-assessments such as this one at 16 Personalities, to find out what your strengths are. You can also ask five of your closest friends to tell you the truth about what your strengths are, and then if more than three of them say the same thing, believe them.

4. What are your weaknesses?

While you can improve upon your weaknesses, you should first leverage your strengths, but it’s important to know your weaknesses and accept them. It’s still more important to appreciate your efforts, no matter what.

Developing an entrepreneurial mindset starts with knowing who you really are, the good and the bad. It’s important to know yourself so you can present the authentic YOU always.

So, now that you know how to discover the real YOU, it’s time to take action.
